Japan New Venture Competition 2010

Submit your application today and be invited to pitch your business to leading venture capital firms in Silicon Valley this year!

The Japan New Venture Competition will be held this year for the first time under the patronage of the Ambassador of the United States to Japan, John Roos. The competition is an event organized by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. Thus, by participating in the competition you will receive first-hand advice and support on all matters regarding starting-up a company. From financing, to building and launching a product, to acquiring first customers, all mentors in the competition know exactly what they are talking about since they have done it before. The competition is supported by various accomplished entrepreneurs in Japan and leading venture capital firms in the US. We strongly encourage early stage companies (incorporation is not a prerequisite) as well as people possessing an idea and the urge to transform it into reality to apply today.

Based upon the initial 1-2 page application we will invite the most promising 100 teams to submit their 5-10 page executive summaries in May 2010 providing a more detailed business description. If your summary is convincing and you are serious about transforming your plan into reality your venture will be invited to a 3-month start-up boot camp in Japan. During this period the participating teams will be able to refine their initial business idea and concept, establish a sound business plan and equip themselves with the presentation skills and the network necessary to be solidly prepared to pitch for funding.

The highlight of the competition is the final business trip to the US in September 2010. Out of the Japan start-up boot-camp participants the most promising ventures are invited to join a business trip to Silicon Valley. You will have the opportunity to meet with leading venture capital firms in Silicon Valley and pitch for funding for your venture. Moreover, you will also experience a unique opportunity to build your network outside of Japan and broaden your business perspective.

The competition is no academic exercise. The ultimate goal is to establish real companies!
